When to visit La Plagne?
The decision rests on several criteria. Climate score, tourist crowds and feasible activities.
La Plagne, at 2100m altitude, is part of Paradiski with Les Arcs: 425 km of pistes, Bellecôte glacier at 3250m, 1600m skiable vertical drop. One of the largest French resorts in terms of accommodation capacity. July-August are my favourite months (7.4-7.5/10): 7-17°C, 38-47% rain, good for hiking and water sports at Lac de Plagne. From December to April, expect -11/3°C: major ski season, snow guaranteed. The Olympic bobsleigh track (Albertville Olympics 1992) stays open to the public in winter. The resort gathers 11 villages (Plagne Centre, Plagne Bellecôte, Plagne Soleil, Belle Plagne, Aime 2000, Plagne Villages, etc.) of varied design. From October to November and May, it's the slow shoulder season. Aime TGV station 30 min away by shuttle, Eurostar Ski from London in winter.

How we calculate the score
For mountain destinations, we calculate two scores per month — skiing and hiking — and display the higher of the two.
- 40% snow cover (slope T° corrected by lapse rate -6.5°C/1000m)
- 40% winter thermal comfort (-5 to 5°C optimal)
- 20% sunshine
- Off-season penalty: ×0.70 adjacent months · ×0.35 outside season
- 40% temperature (10–22°C optimal)
- 40% rain (frequency + daily intensity)
- 20% sunshine
