July is actually the best month of the year in Nikko. Good timing.
Our verdict
Nikko, 130 km north of Tokyo, is the shrine of Tokugawa Ieyasu (founder of the Edo shogunate): 100 UNESCO temples and shrines. August is my favourite month (7.3/10): 20-26°C, 90% rain, mild temperatures at altitude (Nikko at 600m).
