Our verdict

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city: 1.7 million inhabitants (1/3 of the country), "City of Sails" (1 sailboat for 4 inhabitants), built on 50 dormant volcanoes. January-February are my favorite months (8.2-8.3/10): 64-73°F, 39-40% rain, austral summer, swimming at the East Coast beaches (Mission Bay, Takapuna).
