Our verdict

Nagasaki, the 2nd city to suffer an atomic bombing on 9 August 1945 (74,000 deaths), keeps a singular history in Japan: the only port open to Europeans (Dutch and Portuguese) during the Edo isolation (1639-1854), Christian influence unique in Japan. October is my favorite month (8.2/10): 64-73°F, 27% rain, ideal temperatures before winter.
