Queenstown is the adventure capital of the world : surrounded by the Remarkables Mountains, on Lake Wakatipu, this is where commercial bungee jumping was born (1988, Kawarau Bridge). January-February are my favorite months (8.0/10): 54-70°F, 36-38% rain, austral summer, hiking the Routeburn Track and Milford Track (Great Walks, book 6+ months ahead).
