Our verdict

Santa Barbara is the temperate California par excellence: microclimate sheltered by the Santa Ynez Mountains to the north, constant ocean breezes. July is my favorite month (10.0/10): 64-82°F, 0% rain, and the famous "May Gray / June Gloom" (morning fogs) already dispersed.
